My experience with documentary films has always been informative, and eye opening. I have seen multiple documentary's ranging from "Pike's Peak Gold Rush", a documentary about who when and how mining in the state of Colorado in 1859 led to gold, to "The Interrupters", a documentary based on lowering and stopping the crime in the Roseland community of Chicago, and "Vice" documentaries, gives knowledge about the conditions life throughout the world. I watch these documentaries because I like the feeling of being intrigued about what has and is happening. My favorite documentaries are the ones based on things like, 'The Last Alaskans" documentary series and history based on the way America has changed over the decades. I like these they all have sub-tense, they all have events that have underlining details, and details under those telling you why and how this thing affected that thing and how they intertwine.
Through out all the documentaries I have seen I can say that they all have some sort of formal speech within them and by listening to them and analyzing there concepts I can adapt those sentence structures, vocabulary words and professionalism to my own way of writing and develop a more profound writing identity. Also, in class we are using a different way of using sources that I am unfamiliar using and that is using pictures and videos to illustrate having evidence for the topic you are talking about. Before now I did not do it because I was unsure of how to and I use to the same old technique. I was just use to citing sources M.L.A and A.P.A format, so this way of using evidence and credible sources is extremely hopeful .Therefore I feel that using documentary films as a subject matter for this course and applying all of the other tools given to me by this course will make me a better writer.
After watching "Grizzly Man" I feel that it was a very negative view on Mr. Treadwell's life especially when his bones were found. I admire his courage and dedication to create a bond with such an animal in which no common man or woman would ever attempt. This documentary is a great testament to how no matter what anyone else says you must keep faith in what you believe. I think that it is a bit hypocritical that Herzog, the producer of the film, did not use the recording of Mr. Tredwell's death in respect for his family and the family of his girlfriend, who was also killed. With that being said you would think that this documentary would be respectful of his life but it turned out to be somewhat the opposite.
